“Highlander” in a apocalyptic setting, starring female action heroes.
Keepers of the Flame started off as a single novella–BRIGHID’S CROSS–that made Samhain Publishing’s END OF DAYS anthology. In response to the feedback I received regarding BRIGHID’S CROSS (I listen to my readers and fellow book lovers!) I wrote and self-published the main character’s origin story, which then became the first book of the companion series, Keepers of the Flame: Origins.
Both series takes place in the near future, on the cusp of the apocalypse. (Where George L. L. Martin promises that Winter is coming, in my world the apocalypse is coming.) Humanity is beginning to evolve since the Mayan calendar ended in 2012, in response to the rise in demonic and corporate government bad-guy activity. Champions like the Keepers of the Flame are coming to the fore, because while good and evil duke it out, humanity gets caught up in the collateral damage. Demons, led by Satan’s Consort Lillith as the Mother of Demons, are trying to destroy the Keepers, while government agencies and private armies seek to harness the power Keepers hold within them.
